STATE HOUSING PROJECT AT HAMILTON
HAMILTON. April 22. Plana have been completed for the first of two parts of a Government housing block which is to be developed at Fairfield, Hamilton. The first part, known ,as the Fairfield A scheme, is situated west of Heaphy Tee. and bounded by Clarkin Road, on the north. It will provide about 150 units. The second part, now being prepared by the Housing Department, is east of Heanhy .Tce. Together, the two blocks will provide between 400 and 500 housing units. The department decided on the project early in 1946, and to' date considerable areas have been purchased. The development of the first part will involve about one mile of new’ street construction, including drainage and water supply. The opening up of an estate at the corner of River and Clarkin Rds. includes a cul-de-sac street providing sites for 24 units. Engineering development of an estate in Casey’s Ave. is being carried out. and will provide for 14 houses in the block.
