TRAFFIC PATROL FINDS DEFECTIVE LIGHTS IN GREYMOUTH
Operating in Tainui Street last evening outside the Grey Main School, Traffic Inspectors J. Ramsay and A. Macefield and Vehicle Inspector G. Palmer stopped about 55 cars and conducted headlight, tests. Four of the cars failed to pass the tests with defective headlights but the others were satisfactory. This was the first taste Greymouth had received of the action ordered by the Commissioner of Transport. Mr G. L. Laurenson last week. These tests are to be conducted in this district for.some time to come and all offenders will be prosecuted. Last night nearly 20 cyclists were stopped for riding in darkness without lights. These persons,«among whom were, several women, were cautioned,, but warned as the Transport Department wished all others to be warned, that action will be taken in future. . .
