State Control and World Trading
GENEVA, June 25. The world trade conference referred to a sub-committee a United States move to insert in the world trade charter provisions governing State-controlled trading. It is understood that the United States proposal was intended to prevent States from using import licenses for polical purposes. Czechoslovakia feared that the proposed article might affect its State trading enterprises. It is' believed that New Zealand sought an amendment to meet the case of a State using selective import licenses as part of its trade policy.
