DETAIN MAY REPEAT AT WASHDYKE

The South Canterbury J.C. meeting will be concluded at Washdyke to-day, when well balanced fields will parade in. all events. First day form should prove a reliable guide though several fresh horses should add interest to the racing. With more important winter meetings to follow the form will be followed with interest. The big event, the South Canterbury Handicap, should provide a good contest, though the promising Defaulter-Disdain gelding, Detain, should again reign supreme. Betting will be on the win and place system’. The following horses should prove hard to beat: —
