SOVIET ATTITUDE TO AUSTRIA BLAMED

LONDON, May 21. The correspondent of the Daily Telegraph in Vienna says that after meetings lasting seven days the Austrian treaty commission has failed to agree about the terms of reference for the committee of experts which is to collect information about the outstanding issues, particularly concerning German assets l in Austria. The British, American and French delegations apparently favour giving the experts a reasonably free hand but the Russians are seeking to define and limit their activity. The breach is widest between the British and Russian representatives and the all too familiar pattern of mutual distrust and recrimination is beginning to emerge. LONDON, May 221 British official sources have joined the United States authorities in publicly blaming the Russian delegation for the deadlock on the Austrian Treaty Commission, says Reuter’s Vienna correspondent.
