N.Z. to Extend Cancer Research

WELLINGTON, May 22. . Statistical research into cancer is to be extended to all the principal hospitals in New Zealand, according to a statement made by Sir James Elliott, chairman of the central committee of the New Zealand branch

" the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society. “As this will be a great task, it is gratifying to know that the work of the society is to be combined by special arrangements with the Government statistical department,” he said. The labour would be greatly lightened by the use of modern machines.

Sir James disclosed that '9OO cas-es in the Auckland province had been under observation. The radiophysics laboratory at Canterbury University College during the year had set u at considerable cost a radon plant which would be used for the investigation and treatment of cancer, he said.
