(Rec 8.40). NEW YORK, May 20. Two hundred aviation experts at Langley field, Virginia, to-day witnessed 'tests of the first “silent” aeroplane, which is described as one of the major developments of aviation in recent years. The silent plane is the first to be equipped with all of the known noise reducing devices. It employs a five-bladed propellor, which revolves at a lower speed than the usual propellor. The noise is reduced by ninety per cent. The Associated Press says: When the plane passed three hundred feet overhead, its noise was ' “scarcely more than wmuld have been made by a glider.”
