Court-martial of U.S. Navy Officer
(Rec. 9.30). WASHINGTON, M4y 20. The U.S. Navy Department announced to-day that Lieutenant-Com-mander Edward Neal Little, aged 39, who received the Navy’s Silver Star for heroism during the first Philippine campaign, is being court-martial-led, secretly, on charges arising from his conduct while in prison with British, American, Australian, and Dutch servicemen in a Japanese camp. There are three counts—-the maltreatment of persons l who were subject to his orders; conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline; and conduct unbecoming of an officer and a gentleman. The court-martial is being held, in secret at Little’s request.
