LOCAL BODY COMMISSION SWORN IN AT WELLINGTON
p.A. WELLINGTON, May 20. The members of the Local Government Commission to be sworn in this afternoon by the Chief Justice, Sir Humphrey O’Leary, were welcomed at Parliament Buildings today by the Minister of Internal Affairs, .Hon. W. E. Parry, who said the commission was practically a new court and the people of the country, especially local body representatives, would . watch its work closely. The members are Mr. I. J. Golclstine (chairamn, with the status,of a Supreme Court judge) and Messrs I. W. Andrews, W. C. E. George and G A. Monk
Mr. Parry said that many would look on their work with suspicion and one of the first duties would be to prove to the public that the commission had a contribution to make to the welfare of the Dominion. Mr. Goldstine announced that Mr. F. B. Stephens would be secretary of the commission afro. Mr. J. E. F. Jeune investigating officer.
