QUEST FOR SOHO MURDERER

LONDON, May IS. The police detained a man they wanted to interview in connection with the killing of Alex de Antiquis during the armed hold-up of a jeweller’s shop in Soho. Doris Hart, whose photograph was widely published to-day as the woman believed to be accompanying the' men the police wanted to intreview, walked into a Yorkshire police station this morning. She said she saw her photographs in the newspapers and she went to the police of her own accord and made a statement. She said she was surprised to find that the police' wanted to interview her. Following the detention of the man, and with the “very valuable” information given by Doris Hart, the Dolice believe that they will shortly find, another two men who are wanted in connection with the armed raid on the Soho jeweller’s shop on April 29. Doris Hart made a full statement about her movements and the police have' other important new information,

A retired policeman recognised the man who was detained to-day from the description which Scotland Yard circulated. John Morris, formerly a metropolitan police sergeant, was driving along the Plumstead Common road when he saw the man. He stopped and engaged him in conversation until a uniformed policeman came along on a bicycle. They persuaded the man to come to the police station, where he was detained, pending an identification parade tomorrow.

The police believe that they are near the end of one of the most intensive investigations ever carried out- The officers in charge cf the case have been working for seven-

teen days with very brief breaks for food and sleep.

jt was reported yesterday that Scotland Yard had circulated a description of the man it wanted to interview in connection with the killing of de Antiquis and had now asked all provincial offices to look out for a woman who was believed to bp accompanying the man. She was described as an attractive young blonde, with very blonde hair, a dark conmlexion and brown eyes.

The police circulated photographs of both the man and the woman and issued a warning that the man might be armed.

The woman, if. was stated, might bo using the name of Doris Hart or Norma Marshall.
