DOZEN ’TECS QUESTION MANY ABOUT MURDER
Wilkins Gambling Associations P.A. WELLINGTON, May 2. Inquiries show that Francis Roy Wilkins, who was the victim of the murder and" robbery on April 21, was an undischarged bankrupt. Wilkins filed in bankruptcy in 1930. The police have questioned a number of persons, known to them as having records for crimes of violence, and more than one person who has been so questioned has consulted his solicitor. There is no suggestion, however, that these inquiries have disclosed a suspect. Taxi drivers who were on duty on the night of the murder have been asked to report anything that they saw which might have a connection with the case. Twelve detectives are now engaged on the case, and it remains at a stage where loose threads are being sorted out. Other persons who have been closely questioned are men who have sat in on gambling schools with Wilkins. He had been well known as an habite of these gambling schools for a long time. No search of the sea bed at Evan’s Bay was carried out to-day.
