BLACKBALL NOTES

Mr. T. Dillon, of Christchurch, has been spending a short holiday with his parents, Mr and Mrs Joe Dillon, Clifford Street. Mr Wallace Scholefield, who has been undergoing treatment in Grey Hospital, has now returned to his home and is convalescing there. Mrs D. Nicol, of Timaru, accompanied by her grand-daughter, Miss A. Brown, has been visiting relatives here

Mr Tom Boyd, of Christchurch, has been visiting Mr and Mrs Beale, Stafford Street. Mrs Chas. White, of Christchurch, who has been spending annual leave here ps the guest of his brother, Mr. Jas White has left on his return. Recently “Bus Stop,” notices have been installed at convenient intervals in the township. They ought to make for efficiency, eliminating the practice of stopping the bus to pick up or set down passengers right along the street. When people get used to it, it is sure to be appreciated. One point to consider was the proximity of the bus stop to a street light for the convenience of passengers after dark. Over the week-end rain fell very generally in the district, and was much appreciated. The tanks are reported as generally well filled. One would probably be quite safe in saying that we shall not have a recurrence of the late dry conditions for some months to come.

There was an exodus of people from the town ship on Saturday to attend the picnic at Cragieburn, in the Atarau district. It was a fine day, the conditions being ideal for the outing. It was unfortunate that there was a clash with the Nelson Creek Sports that day. Those who journeyed to Cragieburn are high in their praise of the outing.
