BRITAIN’S FREEZE UP RAISES DEATH RATE BY 11,000 IN 5 WEEKS
(Rec. 7.30). LONDON, March 21. During the big freeze-up, 11,481 more persons died in Britain than in the corresponding period of last year.
Figures issued by the RegistrarGeneral show that, in the live weeks -mded March 8, deaths in London alone rose by 2301. In those weeks the temperature was above freezing point only once.
