REEFTON NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent.] WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Reefton branch of the Women’s Institute held in the Institute Room early this week Mrs Wells presided. One new member was welcomed. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: — President, Mrs ’Wells (re-elected); vice-presidents,. Mesdames Duff and Miller (re-elected); secretary, Mrs Eager; treasurer, Mrs Hobbs (reelected); committee: Mesdames, Mitchell, Smith, Harvey and Sharp. Hospital visitors appointed for the month were Mesdames Harvey and Eager. It was resolved that a letter be sent to Mrs Fattorini wishing her a speedy recovery from her illness. A deputation was arranged to meet the Council re improvements to King George Park. It was decided to hold future meetings in the afternoon. Competition winners were:— Best b’oom, Mrs Nicholls 1; Mrs FlarH, 2. Scarlet Runner Beans, Mrs Harvey 1, Mrs Eager 2. Best Apron, Mrs Duff 1; Mrs Eager 2. Hostesses for the afternoon . were Mesdames Sharp and Smith. The annual meeting of the United Football Club was held at the Gymnasium Hall on Tuesday, Mr J. Dellaca presiding over a good attendance. The resulted as follows;— President: J. Dellaca; Vice-presi-dents: D. Campbell, R. Marshall, J. LatL'A, F. Cutbush, C. Free, P. Gilmour, R. Yellowlees. J. Kerr, W. G. Porter, W. Downing, T. A. Dellaca, S. Austin, A. Lulham, Alec McKenzie, J. Cutbush, T. Irving, A. G. Reid. Secretary-treasurer, A. C. Cleaver. Club Captain, P. Cutbush. Selectors: Captain and Secretary. Delegates to Sub-Union: C. Free, J. Dellaca. Subscriptions were fixed at 10s reducible to 7s |6d if paid before first competition game. School-boy subscriptions .were fixed at 2s 6d. It was decided to operate the same Insurance,Scheme as that used last year. A challenge from the Waratah Club was accepted. It was decided to contact country Clubs for friendly games. The Sub-Union is to be asked to provide a floodlighted playing area and to informed that the Club favours appointment of a sole selector for representative teams.
