THE TURF N.Z. METROPOLITAN T.C.

EMULOUS PRESIDENT’S CHOICE Globe Direct Express Fancy Followers of trotting will find much to interest them at Addington to-morrow, when the N.Z. Metropolitan Trotting Club’s Easter carnival will open. While the programme provides a rich stake for the best pacers in commission, the claims of the improvers have not been overlooked. In addition the Autumn Stakes run over a twelve furlong journey, under special conditions, gives the best four and five-year-olds a ch.xnce to compete for a good prize, while the N.Z. Trotting Stakes is confined to three-year-old trotters. Events of this nature do much to encourage the breeding of the square gaiter, and each year since its inception an improvement has been noted in the numbers and the gait of those taking part. Track conditions are reported to be excellent, and fast times should be recorded. Horses that appeal in their respective engagements are. —
