Government to Appoint Architect At Greymouth

‘•I understand that at present there is no Government architect on the West Coast, but it is the intention of the Government to establish an architect in Greymouth in the very near future,” said the chief Government architect (Mr R. A. Patterson) . at yesterday’s meeting of West Coast and Buller local body representatives when the Minister of Works (Hon. R. Semple), outlined the proposals for the ten-year plan for the West Coast. “You must have some good buildings in your town, and you must encourage some young architect to come and assist you with your plans for the future.”

He added that at present the 'Rehabilitation Department was doing a good job in having architects trained at the Auckland University. Mr Patterson's reference to the construction of a new police station at Greymouth, drew a round of applause.
