ALIEN SUSPECTS
Entry to Australia
DRASTIC PREVENTIVE
PLANS.
CANBERRA, Feb. 20.
Drastic steps to prevent the entry into Australia of alien suspects and to watch the activities of any who may be here, are planned by the Commonwealth Government. It is proposed to compel aliens to register. It also is proposed to attach security officers, under the guise of immigration officers, at key points of departure from Europe to examine the past political affiliations of persons leaving for Australia and to check more closely the arrivals on incoming ships by applying a security examination to those with a suspected political background. One report suggests Copenhagen as a key point lor the checking of intending migrants from northern and Central Europe. ■The policing of aliens within the Commonwealth will be confined mainly to those of central European origin.
