DANGEROUS TRAMS
SYDNEY OPERATORS PROi EST
SYDNEY. Feb. 21
All the trams and buses will stop for three minutes to-morrow as a protest against of the retention of the footboard trams in Sydney. Officials of the Tram and Bus Union announced this to-day, following the death of a conductor, who fell from a footboard last night. They said that their executive had decided last year on such demonstrations as long as footboard trams remain in use. The stoppage will be timed with Uno departure of the funeral cortege. The Sydney trams are mostly of the footboard variety, in which the only way that the conductor can collect the fares is to swing himself along the footboard running round the outside of the tram.
