N.S.W. HEAT WAVE SYDNEY, September 12. The heat wave which gripped the State yesterday kept temperatures in Sydney above 80 degrees for more than five hours, and raised flood fears in the Riverina, where warm weather is expected to melt the mountain snows. The maximum temperature in Sydnev was 85.8 degrees, and hot north-westerly winds brought clouds of dust from the drought-stricken inland. A warm, dry night followed, with a temperature of over 71 degrees at 1.30 a.m. to-day and rising. Searing winds caused further stock losses in the drought country where temperatures up to 93 degrees were recorded.
