ZIONIST MURDERS

BRITISH OFFICERS IN PALESTINE JEWS DEMAND PARTITION PROTECTION FOR SIR JOHN SHAW (Rec. 7.35). LONDON, Sept. 12. Following the Stern Gang’s threats to kill him before he leaves for England, it is officially announced that Sir John Shaw, retiring Chief Secretary, will be the guest of the High Commissioner, Admiral Cunningham, at the heavily guarded Government House for the remainder of his stay in Palestine. Sir John Shaw’s appointment terminates next week. The Stern Gang in a “communique” posted up in Tel Aviv to-day, took the responsibility for murdering Sergeant Martin of the C.I.D. in Haifa on September 9, and attacking the area security office in Tel Aviv on the same day, in which attack Major Desmond Doran was killed and his wife seriously injured. Dr. Nahum. Goldman, United States representative on the Jewish Agency, told the Press Association that the Jews had informed the British Government that unless partition were accepted as a basis for discussion—without committing the Government —Jewish participation in the London conference would be useless. The Jews had worked out a possible area in which adequate number': of Jews could settle and establish a self-gov-erning independent community. He expressed the opinion, that within a few years the European Jewish problem would involve 500,000 or 600,000 Jews leaving Europe, some for other countries, but the bulk would wish to settle in Palestine. There were Jews in Arab countries he would like to bring under the Jewish State. JERUSALEM, Sept. 10.

Following terrorism in Tel Aviv yesterday, 101 Jews have been sent to the Rafah interment camp for questioning. A search of Ramatgan yielded a sub-machinegun, Army training pamphlets and a few illegal leaflets.

Sergeant T. G. Martin, who was shot dead in Haifa yesterday is believed to be the first of seven British members of the Palestine force who had been named on the Terrorist death list. The remaining six are probably .the only officials in Palestine capable of identifying the terrorists who, three years ago, escaped from the Latrun camp through a secret tunnel.

Mrs Doran, wife of Major Doran, the British Security Officer in Tel Aviv, who was resuced from the debris of her residence, is not expected to live, It is now disclosed that .Major Doran and the guard of the building were shot dead while attempting to prevent the blasting of the building. Four Government employees in the building were injured. The Jewish Agency and the Jewish National Council have issued statements condemning the terrorist outbreaks. The British Sixth Airborne Division troop's have been withdrawn fLom Tel Aviv after occupying the city for 15 hours. The curfew there has' been lifted.
