[Our Own Correspondent]. Rt. Hon. P. Fraser and Hon. P. C. Webb paid a visit to the school, tennis courts and swimming baths here during their recent tour of the district. Further visitors to relatives at ( Millerton on vacation 'include Mrs. M. McEwan (Reefton), Messrs T. Grace (Christchurch) and B. Watson (Owen River). Mrs. A. Nicholl last week visited Runanga. There was an excellent attendance at a varietv concert given by the Granity R.S.A. on Wednesday. The dressing and scenery were very appropriate, while the orchestra played admirably. Six girls smartly executed a ballet (“Cuddle Up a Little Closer); and Miss J. Swan, a talented vocalist, was encored for a solo. Miss V. Longstaff gave an attractive dance which was performed with a clever sketch (statue), by Messrs Kerr, Shaw, Dixon and Nicholson. After a popular duet by Mr. and Mrs. Campbell, the Dixon sisters played a nice piano duet, showing their ability clearly. As a magician, Ted Wilson won general approval. “Don’t Fence Me In” was the title of a boys’ ballet, and Messrs Kerr and Mason presented a duo “Narcissus.” Mrs Boswell’s vocal solo was well received and was followed by a cornet solo by Mr. W. McFarlane, who was heartily applauded. Further excellent items in order were; Miss A. Hansen, song, Miss B. Mara, recitation; Mr. G. Tyler and six girls, Irish scena, which was excellently presented; Messrs Kerr and Shaw, sketch; Dixon sisters, pianoforte duet: Mr. Tyler and boys, ballet, “Salome” (a very classy performance) ; Miss J.
