LONDON, Aug. 25. Norman von Nida (Australia) won the News-Chronicle’s £l5OO golf tournament at Brighton with a total of 283. His third and final round figures were 70 and 73. Von Nida took the lead at the end of the third round where he led by three strokes from R. Whitcombe, Dai Rees, John Burton, E. W. Branch and C. H. Ward, all with 213. John Burton finished second with 73, 71—284. He was followed by Rees 71. 72—285; and Branch 74, 72—285. HOGAN WINS AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP (Rec. 7.40). NEW YORK, Aug. 26. In the American Professional Golf Association’s final of the championship, played at Portland, Oregon, Hogan defeated Oliver 6 and 4.
