New Campaign EXPECTED IN MANCHURIA 1 (Rec. 6.30). NANKING, August 24. Z “Explosive Manchuria, after two < months of a lull, shows signs of an imminent detonation,” states an Associated Press correspondent in Nan- “ king. Chinese Government sources eaid that most likely battle sites were ' Harbin, Kirin, and Lafa. Chinese Government troops have moved to within thirty miles of Chengteh. The Government forces have recently threatened to assault the Communist ■ strongholds of Chengteh, Yenan and 1. Kalgan, unless the siege of Tatung is lifted. Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, 'addressing training camp graduates, ; said that it was a great shame to the - Kuomintang that still a year after victory reconstruction had ont begun. The people’s suffering was as • great as ever. He added that the Kuomintang’s work would not be - complete while there was one person . in China Hungary, or in rags, or . without a roof.
