EZRA POUND

ESCAPES -“HAW-HAW’S” FATE. (Rec. 7.10). WASHINGTON, Feb. 13. In the United States District Court a jury found the American, Ezra Found, to be mentally unsound. Therefore Pound will not be tried on charges of treason arising from his war-time broadcasts from Italy. Two psychiatrists gave evidence that Pound is “a sensitive, eccentric, cynical person in a paranoic state of psychotic proportions, rendering him unfit for trial”. The Associated Press Agency points out that Pound will be detained at Saint Elizabeth Mental Hospital at Washington. He could be brought to trial later if his mental condition improved.
