SEA FREIGHT CHARGES
U.S. ADVOCACY OF INCREASE. (Rec. C. 30.) NEW YORK, Feb. 13. ' The “Journal of Commerce.” in its annual -shir-ping review, quotes Mr. F;unk Tayl’.r, PresMent. of the Am wi.-mi Merchant Marine Institute, as stating that sharply rising costs had ‘outmoded” -the pre-war shipping freight rates, and ’ that, therefore, a general upward revision was highly essential. Mr. Taylor expressed the view that it was highly important, that the freight conference system be maintained and vessels of any flag should be admitted to it, subject only to their ability to provide service under the conference _ates and regulations. The “Journal of Commerce” predicts that high-speed ocean travel, following extensive wartime research and developments, will be effective shortly.
