U.N.O. & ALBANIA

Decision Deferred BEVIN v. VYSHINSKY DEBATE. -(Rec. 10.5). LONDON, February 14. The U.N.O. Security Council decided to defer consideration of Albania’s admission to the United Nations. Tintil the Council again meets later'this year. A disagreement between Mr Bevin and M. Vyshinsky proceeded the decision. M. Vyshinsky asked for an immediate decision in Albania’s case. Mr Bevin said there was a particular difficulty in connection with Albania. He did not wish to argue at the moment. On the other hand, he did not want to record a vote against any nation wishing to join the United Nations. He therefore appealed to M. Vyshinsky not to place him in Ike position of having to Q’ecprd a vote. M. Vyshinsky asked Mr Bevin why, if he did not want to vote against it, he did not vote for it. This caused such a stir among the delegates that Mr Makin found it necessary, to call the meeting to order. Mr Bevin repeatedly appealed to M. Vyshinsky not to force a vote at that stage. Finally the'Council adopted a motion by Mr Stettinius postponing a decision.
