HZ. Catholic Appeal INFANT CHILDREN DYING IN GREAT NUMBERS P.A. WELLINGTON, Feb. 14 Archbishop Thomas O’Shea has requested that the Catholic school children of the Archdiocese of Wellintgon should unite in prayer that speedy relief may be given to the starving, homeless children of Europe, and to the under-nourished children of Britain. According to information received by Archbishop O’Shea in one country alone —Hungary—two our of every five children under the age of three years have died of starvation since the end of war in Europe. It is .computed that millions face the same fate as they wander homeless over the continent. Archbishop O'Shea has also requested the children of the Archdiocese to contribute to a fund, the proceeds of which will be sent to bring relief to their starving brothers and sisters in Europe, irrespective of what creed or what nationality they may be. MR. MENZIES’ STATEMENT SYDNEY, February 13. “It is no use discussing food relief for Britain as if it were a problem on a ship, or had become suddenly a problem of production,” said the leader of the Opposition, Mr. Menzies. “The fact is that additional restric-
tions in Australia are needed to increase supplies immediately available for Britain. We were even told in the last session of Parliament, that we were no better off for food in Australia, that people in Great Britain.- We are now paying penalty for that gross stupidity.
