Miss S. Comerford left to-day for Featherston to lake up a school-teach-ing appointment. Mr and Mrs Upham, who have been visiting relations in Westport, have left on their return to Wellington. Mrs A. Nottle has returned from Timaru, where she competed at the j Dominion croquet tournament. Mr J. Bentley has arrived from Christchurch to assist in the training of the Westport Boys’ Band in marching, before their departure for the New Zealand contest at Christchurch. Mr and Mrs C. F. Douthett left yesterday for Nelson. Mr 1.,. W. Howard has resigned from the secretaryship of the Westport Swimming Club. ! AIP- PASSENGERS. Air passengers to and from Westport have been as follows: — From Wellington, Wednesday: Mr D. McGill. To Nelson: Mr A Maude, Mr A. Morrison. To Wellington: Mr J. Clelland, Mrs D. N. Brown, Miss S. Hayes. HECTOR LABOUR PARTY. ’ A meeting of the Hector branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held last Sunday, Mr Tyler presiding. The president referred to the death of one of the branch members. Mrs Dowgray. All stood in silence as a mark of respect and sympathy to Mr Dowgray and his family in their bereavement. The secretary’s action in J sending a floral tribute was endorsed. | It was decided to hold a farewell I social on Friday night in the Party’s ' rooms, for Mr and Mrs Alex Hill, who i are leaving Hector to live in Christchurch. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr Harry Goddard, who is in the Buller Hospital, as the result '>f an accident at the Stockton mine last week. His fellow members hope he will soon recover. • *
