CHINESE CONFERENCE FAILS CHUNGKING, Jan. 30 The Chinese unity conference failed to settle the deadlock over lhe composition of the National Assembly. Both sides refused to budge from their demands and the meeting broke up without the slightest progress being made. The Chinese Information Minister, Mr. Wu, said that, generally speaking, hostilites had ceased’ in North China. There were some localites where fighting was proceeding, out it was not the Government policy to publicise it. The Associated Press corespondent says the truce teams, including .Government, Communist, and American representatives, which were flown to isolated regions, all reported success, but some areas are still unvisited.
