Miss N. McKane of Cobden, . returned to Greymouth yesterday from Christchurch.

Mr. F. C. Ray, car and waggon inspector, Railways Department, Christchurch, is visiting Greymouth.

Miss M. K. Galway of the staff of the Post Office, Reefton, started duties in the telephone exchange at Greymouth yesterday.

Miss N. Haddock arrived yesterday afternoon by plane from Palmerston North on a visit to her brother, Mr J. J. Haddock, Cobden.

Misses M. and F. McGrath left yesterday to spend a short holiday in Christchurch.

Rev. Father Celsus Kelley, 0.F.M., left yesterday morning on return to Auckland.

Dr. M. J. Otley (Christchurch) ared in Greymouth yesterday to take up his appointment as House Surgeon at the Grey Hospital.

The appointment of Mr J. A. Gilmour, S.M., as Chairman of the Government Railways Appeal Board was gazetted last night.—P.A.

Mr. E. Quinn of the drafting staff of the Public Works Department left yesterday on transfer to the housing branch of the department, Wellington.

Mr. G. S. Gould, who has resigned from the position of engineer’s assistant, Public Works Department, Greymouth, left yesterday morning for Auckland.

Mrs F. Dye and her nephew, Jerry Curran, who have been spending a short holiday with Mrs Dye’s sister in Greymouth, left yesterday on return to Auckland.

A Catalina flying boat of the N.Z.R.A.F. captained by Flight Lieutenant C. Watchlin, arrived in Auckland on Wednesday afternoon from Brisbane, carrying former internees from Japan. The passengers included: Sister M. Ruff (Auckland;, Captain J. M. Riley (Dunedin), -Mrs. H. McGregor (wife of Captain McGregor, Indian Army), Dr. Chapman (formerly interned at Singapore), Mrs. A.
