(Rec. 8.50). CANBERRA, Jan. 30. An offer by the Australian Country Party of collaboration with the Liberal Party is being considered by the Federal Executive of the Liberal Party. Sir Earl Page, the Chairman of the Country Party, has rejected a proposal by the Liberal Party for an amalgamation of- the Parties. Sir Earle Page has expressed determination that the Country Party shall retain its identity.

There are proposals on collaboration which include a pooling of resources of anti-Labour parties for the next Federal election; a cessation of fighting among the anti-Labour parties over seats that are already held by them; an avoidance of threecornered lights in certain scats; and a concentration of two parties on lighting against Labour. ADDITION TO OPPOSITION? (Rec. 10.40). CANBERRA, Jan. 30. The political intentions of Mr R. G. Casey, until recently Governor of Bengal, and formerly a member of tb.e Federal House, are at present unknown to the leaders of the Liberal Party. Mr Casey is due back in Australia late in February, or early in March, and he proposes to take two months’ holiday before engaging in political activity.
