HOARD OF GOLD
STRANGE FIND AT SYDNEY
(Rec. 9.15) SYDNEY, Jan. 30 A. hoard' of gold was unearthed beneath the sandstone basement of an old building in the quarantine section of North Head, Sydney, by an inspector, who was testing the effect that white ants have had on the structure. Other officials ' were amazed when the inspector emerged from the -gloom of the semi-dungeon with a handful of sovereigns.
Nearly one hundred soverigns were retrieved. The most recent of them were dated 1894. The search continues, but there is no solution to the mystery of the hoard, which, at present valuation is worth more than two hundred and fifty pounds.
