Australian Faction Fight ?
(Rec. 8.50) CANBERRA, Jan. 29 Rather than compromise Liberal Party, Federal representative, M. T. Malcolm Ritchie, is prepared to fight the Country Party in an attempt to eradicate it from the Australian political scene. To-day he told the opening session of the Liberal Party Executive, that there was room m Australia for only one political party whose creed and practice was opposed to socialism. It was a great pity that the previous political endeavours had led the people who opposed socialism into two camps. Obviously. <he right thing to do was to join two forces, but the proposals for amalgamation were not acceptable to the Country Party. He said an immediate decision was necessary. The Liberal Party has 525 branches, and more than one hundred thousand members.
