BOY DROWNED
P.A. WANGANUI, January 29. A boy was drowned in the Wanganui River early this afternoon. He was Barry Dowsett, aged nine, son of Mr and Mrs V. Dowsett, of Wanganui East. With a young companion, the boy was sWimming in the river near the Dublin Street bridge, when he suddenly disappeared. His companion went for help, but no trace could be found of Dowsett, and dragging operations, continued until sunset, were not successful in recovering the body.
