REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent). REEFTON, Oct. 5 Many of Reefton’s citizens will-'have observed the certificate of tribute, which is exhibited at the Post Office in connection with the district obtaining its National Savings quota for the year ended March 31, 1945. Unfortunately the position since that date is not good. On enquiries from the Postmaster, .it has been ascertained that the weekly quota of £73 is not being reached. As this is the only town in the Greymouth district failing in this respect it is hoped that the public of Reefton will recommence making regular deposits and thus place this district at the top, instead of the bottom of the ladder.

Mrs. C. McElwee presided at a meeting of the Reefton Plunket Society. Also present were: Mesdames V. Collis, C. Harris, L. Alborn, V. Smith, A. Archer, J. Mulligan and J. Dellaca (secretary). Mesdames McElwee and Dellaca were appointed to represent Reefton sub branch at Greymouth. A vote of thanks was accorded the Inanghua Countv Council for the donation of £lO. Arrangements were made for the annual collecting which will take place during next month.
