Racing Nohs Distance to Suit: The distance of the Orari Trot at Geraldine to-day should suit Gamble King admirably. In most of his races he has shown extreme speed, but has not impressed as a stayer. He ran a fine race at Ashburton to finish a close third, and with two furlongs less to cover to-day he may make amends for last week’s narrow defeat. Schooled Well: Spiro is reported to have pleased track watchers in his recent efforts over the schooling fences. The Greek gelding gave a good showing to be second at. his last start, which was his first attempt as a hurdler. The racing and experience is sure to have improved him, and he must be accorded a good chance if produced at Foxton to-day.

Promising Maiden: The Baffles ' gelding Non-Plus, >has only been lightly raced. He came from the clouds to be fourth in his division of the maiden event at the recent Avondale meeting and he appeals as a likely improver. Old Scot’s Chance:

The six-furlong journey of the Stewards’ Hack at Thames to-day should suit Old Scot. In his last attempt at Avondale over seven furlongs, when fancied by his party, he was the early leader, but compounded in the last furlong. He is a promising galloper and his lapse at Avondale can be overlooked. TYPHOON’S PROSPECTS IN AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, September 21. Phar Lap’s old box at Kensington has been reserved next week for the New Zealand stayer, Typhoon, who is due to arrive on September 29. Typhoon will rest in Sydney for about a week before moving to Melbourne. He will attempt to win both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. “The Herald” turf writer says: It is an ambitious programme for a horse who has not yet encountered Australian opposition, but his connections are convinced he is an outstanding staver. He was backed for the double for a substantial amount more than two months ago. The leading New South Wales light-weight jockey, W. Cook, was approached to ride Tvnhoon and accept the mount in both Cups, and apparently Cook is .satisfied from reports that Typhoon’s performances are un to standard. All fodder restrictions have been lifted in New South Wales. This means that the restrictions on racing will end immediately. The Minisim? o< Agriculture (Mr Graham) said the favourable harvest prospects made it possible to dispense with controls.
