The Manpower Office, Greymouth, un to yesterday, had received 24 applications for release of members of the Armed Forces. Two are from members of the Navy, and seven from members of the R.N.Z.A.F. The book is described as a publication that gives prominence to sex, and that, therefore, cannot be imported’ under import licenses for printed books. There are no copies of “Forever Amber” in New Zealand, except a few that had been brought in from the United States. A English edition was to have been published at the end of last month. Under the Custom’s decree, any copies of it on the way from England will presumably be seized on arrival in this country.
