WEDDING

WILLIS—MITCHELL

The marriage took place recently at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth, of Mary Theresa, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs M. Mitchell, Greymoutb to Percy George, eldest son of Mr and Mrs P.'G. Willis, also of Greymouth. Rev Father S. O’Brien (cousin of the’bride) officiated and also celebrated Nuptial Mass. The bude, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of ivory Magnolia satin, cut on classical lines, featuring an embroidered bodice with Peter Pan coJar. Her gathered skirt fell to foini a long train which was also beautifully embroidered. A long handworked tulle veil was held in place by a halo of three white velvet camelias, and she carried a shower bouquet of spring flowers and maidenhair fern. Attending the bride was her sister, Monica, who wore a frock of pale blue crepe-de-chene featuring a heart-shaped neckline and fullyflared skirt. She wore a pale blue head veil, held in place with a coronet of blue spring flowers. Miss Beverley Haines, neice of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Her frock of lemon silk velvet was cut on similar fines to the bridesmaid and she catS a basket of spring flowers. Mr Bert McGirr, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. ’’ During Mass three solos were rendered by Mrs D. Hogg (sister of the bridegroom), Mrs J. Chunn presiding at the organ. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a lucky horse-shoe by her cousin, Patricia O’Sullivan. At the reception which was held at Herb Moore’s, the guests were s received by the bride’s mother, who wore a jade green model frock with rust hat and coat. Her shoulder spray was of autumn toned flowers and "maiden-hair fern. Assisting her was the bridegroom’s mother,- who wore a black model frock with fur coat and brown hat to tone. Her shoulder spray was of mauve flowers. Mr and Mrs Willis left by railcar for Christchurch and Timaru. For travelling Mrs Willis wore a powder blue suit with biscuit coloured blouse and hat, and black accessories.
