IKAMATUA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent) The selectors, Messrs J. Foster, M. Flynn and G. Pope, have announced the Old Timers’ Rugby football team to play the present team at Ikamatua on Sunday, September 30, for a cup donated bv Mr and Mrs Currie. The cup has been presented in memory of those boys of the district who have made the supreme sacrifice in the sec*ond v orld war, and is to be competed for annually between the past and present players. The organiser, Mr W. Blackie, has arrangements well in hand for the match; and spectators should be treated to a good afternoon’s entertainment. Mr W. McVicar will referee. A curtain-raiser has been arranged between the Waiuta and Ikamajua boys’ teams. The following is the Old Timers’ team: D. White; L. McLennan, A. O’Malley. A. Nolan; G. O’Malley, D. Taffee: F. Gardv.ne; A. Bannan, H. Hunt, W. O’Mallev, C. Cowan, H. Steel, W. Blackie, J. Nolan. J. Knight. Emergencies: G. Scott, E. Bradley, K. Wilson, C Fowler. The local branch of the W.D.F.U. have decided to hold a concert about the c-nd of October under the directorship of Mrs Mount. There apnears to be plenty of good talent available, so that a good show should be assured.
