(Our Own Correspondent) Mr. Jack McEnaney of Christchurch is on a brief visit to his parents. Misses R. McLaughlin and S. Fahey are progressing favourably in the Westianu Hospital. . Mrs. Fox of Oust, who has been visiting her aunt, Mrs. J. Pierson has returned to Christchurch. Archbishop West-Watson paid a brief visit to Kumara en route to Hokitika. . .... Mr. Hugh Ollerenshaw is visiting Christchurch. Mesdames V. Louden and B. Teen have returned from Christchurch after attending the wedding of their sister, Miss Mary Steel to Mr. Arthur Sheriff of Gore. * Mrs. R. Ritchie is visiting Christchurch where her son Mervyn is in hospital. ' , There \vas a good attendance at the Women’s Institute on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. J. Reedy presideci. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Anichich, Collie, and Fahey. The president asked members to stand as a mark of respect to relatives of the Murtha and Ollerenshaw families who recently suffered bereavement. Matron Ramsay, of the Westland Hospital, sent a letter of thanks for the recent gift of face cloths and sponge bags. The dominion president’s letter was read by Mrs Reedy who also took the “Golden Thread Talk.” An interesting demonstration on the making of childrens felt slippers was given by Mrs. Ollerenshaw. Social half-hour competitions were won by Mrs. Hines and Miss King. The mystery parcels handed in. found ready, sale. For the best jam tarts made with dripping: Mrs. Hines 1, Mrs. Evenden 2, Mrs. Lawson 3. Best blooms: Mrs. Evenden 1, Miss Hamer 2, Mrs. Hunter 3.
