COAL FOR RAILWAYS

DIVERSION OF OUTPUT TO CONTINUE. PA AUCKLAND, May 13. ’The instruction issued on Friday to coal mining companies to divert output to the railways would continue for a few days, said the Mining Controller (Mr. C. H. Benney) tonight. He visited the Waikato coalfields during the week-end and said that normal production was expected there as from to-morrow. Only domestic coal that is absolutely necessary will go out from the mines in the meantime, said Mr. Benney. “It is hoped that railway stocks will have recovered by the end of the week, he added. “The whole position as it affects railways, industries, and domestic consumers is being surveyed from day to day.”
