WATAROA NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent! Mr Thomas Casey, Okarito, is at present carrying out building work at Wataroa. Mr Godfrey paid a business visit to Wataroa during the week. Mr J. Fulton, of the Dairy Division, paid a visit to the district during the week. Mr Fulton leaves shortly, on transfer to the North Island, and Ins departure from the district is regretted. Mr N. B. McCallum, of Dalgety and Co., was met and presented with a suitable gift by the farmers of Wataroa on his recent visit. Mr Malcolm Mcßride, secretary of the River Board Committee, waited on the Hon. R. S'enmle, Minister of Works, during his visit tot South Westland, regarding river erosion at Wataroa. Mr Nolan, secretary Wataroa Medical Association, also waited on the Minister regarding the medical service to South Westland. Mr Semple promised to have the matters attended to on his return to Wellington. Many officers of the Fleet Air Arm are at present visiting South Westland, to view what one of them describes as the scenic wonder of the world. Hon. Robert Semple, Minister of Works, his; private secretary, and Mr Evans, P.W.D. Engineer, were visitors to South Westland last ■week. At the Patriotic Committee meeting suitable arrangements wer? made for peace celebrations. It was decided to cancel the proposed'patriotic sports meeting, which had been set down for May 12, in the meantime.
