JUNIOR COMPETITION OPENS When the West Coast Cricket As‘ sociation opened its junior competition on the Recreation Ground, Greymouth, on Saturday, only one ot two games set down was played, in ■kin, with six wickets for six runs was point win over Technical. Batting first Cobden made 71 runs, J. Knapp 36 and A. Knapp 23, contributing all but eight of the teams runs, there being seven ducks. Watkin, with six wickets for six runs, Tech’s most successful bowler, witn Robertson 2 for 5 and Spender one for 15 also taking wickets. Five Tech players failed to open their account, while nine rtachect double figures before they were disposed of at 28 runs. A. Knapp took six wickets for eight runs, J. Knapp 2 for 14, S. Knapp 1 for 1 and Beams 1 In*the second innings Cobden made 53 runs, A. Garforth 22 and Baxendale 12 being the only double figures scorers. Latham, Watkin and Spender each took three wickets and Cowan • took one. . ~ . Tech made a further 28 m then second innings, Cowan with ten being the most successful batsman, there being six ducks. A. Knapp, in the bowling, took six wickets for 8 runs, J. Knapp three for nine, and Beams one for one.
