VICHY GOVERNMENT

IN SOUTH GERMAN CITY LONDON, Nov. 23. The British United Press correspondent in Paris says: Most reliable reports reaching Paris state Marshal Petain, Pierre Laval, and other prominent former members of the Vichy Government formed a puppet Government in the South German city of Sigmaringen. The seat of Government is at Sigmaringen CaS'tle, over which the Germans allow Marshal Petain to fly the tricolour. Petain holds audiences daily, he periodically reviews his bodyguard of French Waffen S.S 1 . who have a German uniform with a tricolour patch. There is a shadow Government which consists of &uch leading Vichyite war criminals as Marcel Dead, Darnard, Doriot, Debrinnon and a handful of ■collaborationist officials who fled with Petain. They have their own newspaper, edited by a former editor of “L’Oeuvre.” The notorious Paris radio commentator, Jean Paquis, continues his daily broadcasts, beginning: “Here is France.”
