[Our Own Correspondent]. WESTPORT, Nov 20 The Wingatui sailed yesterday for Wellington. Loadings scheduled for this week are: Tuesday: Kaimai for Wellington and Kartigi for Auckland; Wednesday: Totara for New Plymouth; Thursday: Karepo for Auckland. Matron Patterson, of the Westport Hospital, who was injured in the aircraft accident at Mt. Hope some months ago has returned from Nelson. Mrs. Russell, of Granity, another to b e injured in the accident has also returned. Mr. P. Morgan, Town Clerk,, w llO has been attending the Municipal Conference at Wellington has returned.

Messrs J. Ward (County chairman) and J. C. Brown (President, Buller Progress League) returned on Saturday from the South Island Local Bodies’ Conference at Timaru. Th e cricket season opened on Saturday when two games were playea in Westport. At the Technical School ground, Technical 107 runs, defeated Granity 64. On Victoria Square, Athletic, 107 runs beat Railway, 56 runs. The Buller Owners’ and Breeders’ Association’s first matinee meeting on the Mill Street trotting track , on Saturday, was well attended. The three events held were keenly contested. Mr. G. Mason’s Flying Chips won both pacer’s events while Mr. J. Corby’s, Upshot, won the trotter’s event. Mayo Boy, Doubleante, Second Front (scr), Jack’s Treasure (48). Time 2.20 4-5. The annual schoolboys’ boxing tournament was held on Saturday with a large attendance of spectators. The finals resulted as follows:— 4 stone to 4 stone 7 pounds class: B. O’Dea beat G. Lavery; 4/7 to 5/1 class: J. Kearns beat P. Delaney; 5/1 to 5/8 class: J. Hansby beat N. Kearns; 5/8 to 6/2 class: A. Kitto beat R. Kitto; 6/2 to 6/11 class; W. Warren beat J. Connell; 6/10 to 7/4 class: M. White beat R. Stuart. Special bouts: G. Tottenham (St. Canice’s) beat R. Mullan (Waimangaroa); G. Quinn drew with G. Owles. The Lynch Cup for the most successful boxer was won by J. Hansby who also won the Railway Cup and medal for the 5/1 to 5/8. class. Other awards were: P. C. Webb, cup, G. M. White; Newman Cup, W. Warren; Campbell Cup and Higgin’s Medal. A. Kitto: C. H. Thomas Cup: B. O’Dea; Kirby Medal, M. Geddes. St. Canice’s School team won the Cox Shield and the Foote Cup
