The New Zealand National Anthem opened the meetring and was followed by- “Comrades an r i Friends,” with Miss Joan Searle at the piano. Miss 'Betty Adamson read the aspirations. A discussion took place as to the desirability of formin? a local branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, but no decision on the matter was made. Members responded generously to the Leper Fund appeal. The president presented birthday buttonholes for SentemI ber to Mesdames C. Glass, J. Minehan. and J. Diedrich. The first competition was a bowl of spring flowers. This brought forth a wonderful display of blooms, the quality and quantity of which made judging most difficult. The second competition, a patchwork apron, was won by Mrs ft. Ferguson, with Mrs Nolan second. The roll-call was for a gardening hint and replies to this were most helpful. Mrs Goodman demonstrated the making and covering of lampshades, inviting those present to ask whatever questions they wished. The meeting closed with a social half-hour, conducted by Miss Betty Adamson.
