lOur Own Correspondent]. WESTPORT, Sept. 26 The Titoki arrived yesterday from Wanganui and is to load for Tarakohe. The Kaitoa is due to-morrow to load for Nelson. The Kartigi, Kiwitea, and Kairmiro, for Auckland, and the Wingatiui, for Wellington, are expected to sail on this evening’s tide. Miss V. Layfield of Nelson, is on a visit to her parents at Hector. Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Trathen, of Nelson, are visiting here. Mr. and Mrs. S. Austin have arrived from Nelson to spend two weeks holiday. Shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday the Fire Brigade was called to a fire in a hedge at the residence of Mr. M. Coyne, Roebuck Street, but its services were not required, the fire having been extinguished before becoming serious. The Brigade was called this morning at 8.40 to a fire in a three roomed cottage at North Beacn occupied by Mrs. Pringle and her young children. The fh’e had a good hold before the alarm could be given and the cottage and contents were completely destroyed. The Buller Rugby Union at its weekly meeting decided that the representative team visit Gerymoutn on Saturday, October 7, providing that a full team is availoble and tne weather is favourable. The President (Mr. J. P. McEnaney) and selectors were empowered to decide whether the trip be made or not. Hon. P. C. Webb has been invited by the Loan Committee to visit Westport and assist in the campaign. Buller Valley Dairy Coy., last year despite the unfavourable season, increased its output of butter on that of the previous season.
