GREY ASSN. MEETS. A meeting of the Grey Boxing .Association was held last evening, when it was reported that negotiations were being conducted in an endeavour to match Billy Parris and Clarrie, Gordon in a professional contest at Greymouth on Friday, October 20 (Labour week-end). It was also reported that the Association was endeavouring to have the bout between George Muir, of Greymouth, and Doug Rcjlenson, of Auckland, which is to take place at Auckland on Monday night, broadcast through the local station 3ZR.
RAYNER K.O.’s GORDON WELLINGTON, Sept. 25.. By a masterly display of ringcraft Clarrie Rayner (Blenheim) wore down Viv Gordon (Auckland) and knocked him out with a right cross to the head in the seventh round of a professional light-weight ’ boxing contest scheduled for ten rounds. Gordon shaped well over the first three rounds, using both hands wit 1 speed, and placing his punches well. Rayner weighed 9st 61b and Gordon 9st 51b.
