TRANSFER OF CROWN LEASES. The Westland Land Board at a meeting held on September. 6, 1944, passed the following resolution and wishes it to be known as widely‘•as possible that the Board would apply this policy only to rural lands and would give special consideration to cases of genuine family transactions, and where areas are unsuitable for the purpose in view- The resolution reads as follows: — . ... “That when any application for the Land Board’s consent to the transfer of a lease or license is lodged, in those cases where the property is considered by the Land Board to be suitable for the settlement of an ex-service-man there b e also lodged evidence that the lessee or licensee has previously given at least one month s notice in writing to the nearest Rehabilitation Committee offering to sell his interest in the property to any returned serviceman on the same terms and conditions contained in the transaction for which application has been made for the Board’s consent and that such Committee has advisee the lessee or the licensee that there is no serviceman eligible or willing to accept the offer.”
