REEFTON, August 12. Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Cook have left to spend holidays at Amberley. Messrs Jas. McGregor, A. F. Wells, J. K. Patterson, A. D. Milne and J. Ross visited Greymouth in connection with the Victory Loan campaign. Mr. A. F Wells was appointed local district representative. The objective for the Reefton district which extends from Inangahua Junction to Maruia, and excludes Mawheraiti, Ikamatua, and Waiuta, is £30,000. An enjoyable social was held in the Band Room on the 13th. birthday ot the Women’s Institute. Mrs. Sharpe and Misses F. V. and E. Nicholls rendered vocal solos, Miss B. Lochore a monologue, and IMiss P. Mitchell danced a Sailor’s Hornpipe. The cake was cut by the President, Mrs. Panckhurst, assisted bv Mrs. Duff, a foundation member. The year’s points competition was won by Mrs. Harvey, Mrs. Sharpe being second. The condition of Mr. A. Bierwirth, who was injured by a fall of coal at the Burke’s Creek mine is much improved, and he should be able to leave the hospital in a few days. Mrs. K. Auld and her daughters have returned to Hokitika.
